A group of mechanical soldiers march through a packed city square, the light from their magical cores shimmering in the heat of the imperial sun…

A member of the water tribe swears vengeance towards the Empire as they sit clutching the body of their assassinated sensei…

A pirate clings to the deck of his crumbling sky-ship as Elvish Pterosaur riders bombard it with spears and ancient spells…

This is the world of Olethas: a place where magic and science are one and the same; where Imperial might trumps the traditions of once proud lands; and where the constant forward march of technology is met with stubborn resistance by those that revere nature above all else.

Olethas is ruled by the Empire of Alerion. Thanks to their discovery of long dormant technologies they were able to swiftly dominate the continent, showing no quarter in their ruthless advances and even wiping out entire generations that threatened their rule. It has only ever had a single Emperor: the Eternal King, a man who in life brought all other crowns under his dominion, and who in death has bound his soul to them so that he might live on forever. The Eternal King makes it clear that his word is law, and though the Imperial Houses may think themselves the true puppeteers of the state they are mere playthings in the machinations of their lord.

Though cultural boundaries exist, the Empire has made all other nations submit to its rule. To the North, the proud nation of Khassrad now offers its firstborns to bolster the Imperial army; to the East, the people of Huaxia bend the knee as even their own kin lick the boots of the Eternal King for power; and even to the South, in the untamed forests and jungles of Shaara, support for anti-Imperial resistance movements is dwindling in the face of violent skirmishes. Once Shaara submits fully, the Empire will set its sights across the Shifting Seas to gleam what might lie beyond them.

Yet the age of the Empire is surely drawing to a close, for no kingdom can stand for an eternity. Shaara has not yet fallen and it is rumoured that the resistance hides a “weapon” of unimaginable power should the Empire press its advances. Cults devoted to old and horrible powers lurk just behind the curtain, twisting the minds of innocent people to commit heinous acts. The roars of the last dragons echo across the land for the first time since their slumber. The flames of war are set to ignite, and so many fated pawns stand ready with torches in hand…
